Olympic Peninsula Travel Assoc. OPTA Introduces Mobile Communications to Washington State Tourism Commission

Olympic Peninsula Travel Association president CEO Dan Youra and OPTA’s executive director John Snyder introduced the cell phone to the Washington State Tourism Commission at the last conference meeting on Thursday Feb 28th 2008.

Near the end of Thursdays WSTC Meeting Dan Youra announced to the commission his surprise that the Washington State's 2008 marketing plan did not include mobile communications as a Medium for sending information to travelers. WSTC's primary focus was the unveiling of plans for experience Washington’s new website a massive undertaking requiring approximately half a million dollars in tax revenue and in addition will take an estimated 2 years to complete. WSTC expressed a strong desire to engage travelers with their information yet they elements mentioned were traditional print publications and the internet.
