Signature Events Produces Milestone Gala for West Raleigh Baseball Association

Raleigh, NC – February 26, 2008 - Signature Events, a Raleigh based, full service event planning company specializing in the creation and production of distinctive corporate, non-profit and special occasion events, successfully fashioned and executed the February 9, 2008 West Raleigh Baseball Association’s (WRBA) 50th Anniversary Gala at the North Carolina History Museum in downtown Raleigh.

The fact that every detail was carefully considered, from planning to onsite management, ensured that our event would be unique, successful and memorable,” commented Dave Koch, President of the West Raleigh Baseball Association. “Signature Events really took the time to ‘know’ our association, our members, our culture – and therefore provided the necessary creative and visionary expertise, making sure our 50th Anniversary celebration was a one-of-a-kind event that people would remember,” Koch added.

Making the event truly distinctive was the incredible attention to the details - from theme-enhanced décor and decadent food, to the inventive lighting and colored fabrics. This event brought hundreds of attendees together in one of the most amazing settings the NC History Museum has ever seen, to honor one of the most respected youth athletic programs in the area and as an added highlight, Bill Ripken, a 12-year major league veteran and brother of Hall of Fame member Cal Ripken, was the event’s keynote speaker.

“It was very fulfilling for us to create an event for WRBA that they could be proud of,” commented Anna Beltran, President of Signature Events. “They work tirelessly to raise awareness for their mission to prevent child abuse by providing a safe and positive environment for young athletes and it was a pleasure for us to take their vision of a large scale celebration and turn it into an original, signature event that exceeded all of their expectations.”

The gala, which honored 50 seasons of high caliber youth baseball in the greater Raleigh area, also served as a platform for the launch of “Drive for a Million,” a project devoted to raising $1 million for baseball field improvements through various fundraising initiatives, including a silent auction of various items, as well as corporate and personal donations.

This gala provided a benchmark reminder of the association’s accomplishments and represented a stepping stone to the future of Raleigh-area baseball.
