2025 Ruffo Caselli Exhibit Highlights Intersection of Humanity with Technology
NEW YORK - January 27, 2025 - The Center for the Multidisciplinary Study of Cybernetic Existentialism today announced that its innovative Ruffo Caselli robotics on canvas art show will take place this year in Genoa, Italy. The show, a Caselli retrospective, highlights his groundbreaking approach to artistic expression in 1980's New York City. Caselli (1932-2020) was an Italian artist who created works that combine "technology presented on canvas." The upcoming retrospective will celebrate five decades of Caselli's "robotics on canvas" works. The artworks in the exhibit are charming and evoke humor.
The Center for the Multidisciplinary Study of Cybernetic Existentialism was founded by Carmen Gallo. It was originally a club and salon dedicated to art, a place where refined individuals could gather to talk about all aspects of art and life. The salon evolved into The Center for The Multidisciplinary Study of Cybernetic Existentialism, which sponsored Caselli and led to him gaining global. Since 1980, it has been the premier center for, "thought-provoking discussions, conferences, and art exhibitions focused on the relationships between humans and technology," according to Gallo.
Gallo explained, "Caselli's unique catalog of work manifests a dance of contrasts, embodying the spirit of the 'Theatre of the Absurd,' to challenge the viewer's perceptions of reality."
Most of Caselli's art pieces incorporate tangible microchips. Recurring themes feature technology with human-like qualities, as well as humans adorned with machine-like attributes. "This fusion of humor, philosophy, and brilliance served as the hallmark of the artist's creations," said Gallo.
