ATF Association Strongly Disagrees with Recent Pardons

The ATF Association, alongside our fellow law enforcement organizations, expresses strong opposition to the recent pardons granted to individuals who pled guilty or were convicted of violent acts during the January 6th Capitol attack. These individuals were involved in the assault of police officers, the destruction of property, and the desecration of one of our nation's most sacred institutions.
We have the utmost respect for our justice system, and we believe that all citizens, regardless of their position, should be held accountable for their actions. Law enforcement officers bravely risked their lives to protect the Capitol and its occupants that day. To offer full pardons to those who harmed these officers and engaged in violent, unlawful behavior undermines the integrity of the rule of law.
These pardons send a dangerous message-that violent actions may go unpunished, potentially inciting further unrest and violence in the future. We urge lawmakers and political leaders to prioritize the principles of justice and accountability above all else.
While we cannot reverse the decisions made this week, we call on all political leaders to carefully consider the long-term consequences of such actions and to uphold the rule of law, especially when those who serve and protect our nation are directly impacted.
