Ketara Software Ships Organic Studio, a Revolutionary Vector Illustration Design Tool

Toronto, Canada, February 29, 2008: Ketara Software, an innovative startup specializing in novel computer graphics software, is pleased to announce the release of Organic Studio 1.1, a powerful and innovative procedural vector editor, shader and exporter. Organic Studio allows users to create rich, complex-looking shapes with only a few clicks, edit simple underlying curves with real-time feedback, and export the shapes to Adobe Illustrator (AI) or Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) files. Rendering to a bitmap is also supported.

Based on an idea of a complex procedural envelope shape put around a few simple curves, Organic Studio allows complex shapes to be created and, crucially, edited with ease. For example, a two-sided arrow can be defined by a simple straight curve running through the middle of the shape. As the middle curve is edited, the overall shape of the arrow changes, without the need to adjust individual points on the outline of the arrow.

Organic Studio also provides a powerful along-the-path tool, which allows any shape or a collection of shapes to be instanced along an outline of any other arbitrary shape. The tool provides numerous adjustable options with real-time feedback, such as the number or spacing of the shapes, banking, distance from the target outline, progressive rotation and scaling, as well as the start and end offsets.

The package comes with powerful shading options, including standard solid-color, linear-, radial- or center-out gradient fills, as well as a unique bitmap fill. The latter allows users to fill any shape with any bitmap from disk, while adjusting settings such as bitmap scaling, rotation, offsets, hue, saturation and lightness in real time but without affecting the original bitmap itself.

Organic Studio supports interoperability with other graphics packages either through rendering to bitmaps (in TIFF, JPEG, or BMP formats), or through vector-based export to Adobe Illustrator (AI) or Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) files.

Pricing and Availability

Available immediately, Organic Studio runs on Windows XP and Windows Vista on both 32-bit and 64-bit versions. The full version of the product costs $39.99 (US). Windows XP version requires Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 runtime to be installed.
