Successful debut at the World Steak Challenge 2024 - gold and silver for E.Jacobsen GmbH (© World Steak Challenge 2024)
The World Steak Challenge – A global benchmark for top quality
The World Steak Challenge, held annually, is regarded as the leading competition for premium steaks worldwide. Over 250 top-quality cuts were entered into the competition and blindly judged by a panel of more than 80 independent experts, including Richie Wilson, renowned TV chef and head chef at FIRE Steakhouse & Bar, and Ioannis Grammenos, head chef and meat expert at Heliot Steak House in London. The judges assessed the beef products based on strict criteria, including marbling, taste, tenderness, and finish. Participants competed across various categories, showcasing the best that their regions and production methods have to offer.
Silver for the Supremo® Grain Fed Tenderloin from Argentina
The Grain Fed Fillet Steak (also known as fillet steak or tenderloin) from Argentina won E.Jacobsen GmbH a prestigious silver medal. This particularly tender and finely marbled cut of meat comes from the back of the cow and is cherished by gourmets worldwide for its exquisite texture. "The silver medal shows that our South American beef imports are absolutely competitive on the international stage," said a delighted Thomas Bär, Managing Director of E.Jacobsen GmbH.
Gold for the Supremo® Grain Fed Striploin Steak from Argentina
The crowning achievement of the evening, however, was the gold medal awarded to the Argentinean Grain Fed Striploin Steak (also known as rump steak or New York strip) from the Supremo® brand. Known for its robust flavor and perfect balance of tenderness and bite, the striploin steak impressed the jury with its exceptional quality. "Our striploin steak is a prime example of the craft of fine meat production and the excellence of Argentine cattle breeding," added Jan Tilsner, authorized signatory of E.Jacobsen GmbH.
Grain Fed: The perfect balance between natural husbandry and outstanding meat quality
How does good beef become a genuine premium product? The answer lies in what is known as "grain fed rearing." This method combines ethical animal husbandry with a targeted diet designed to ensure optimal fat marbling – the key to tender, juicy, and flavorful meat. While the cattle spend most of their lives freely and ethically raised, they are fed a nutrient-rich grain mixture during the last 100 days. This targeted feeding ensures optimal intramuscular fat marbling, producing a perfectly marbled steak that offers the highest levels of enjoyment and animal welfare.
