The Association of Data Scientists and Data Engineers, a non-profit organization that promotes professional development, standards and certification for data analytics professionals started operations today. The association is dedicated to professional development of data scientists and data engineers, and to the advancement of data analytics. The association offers conferences, networking and knowledge sharing events, online technical support to its members and a peer-reviewed journal.

“The demand for data scientists and data engineers is just exploding”, said John Huseby, a board member, “The association forms a community for data analytics professionals to network, exchange ideas and advance their profession”, he remarked.

The association offers committee forums for setting standards on data cleansing, data integration, predictive analytics, data mining, data modelling and data governance. It offers a calendar of data analytics events, conferences, meet-ups, educational and networking opportunities. Three levels of membership are available; individual membership, student and corporate sponsorship.

The association acts as a bulletin board for presenting new ideas, tools, job opportunities, issues and challenges related to with data science and data scientists. “Our goal is to learn from one another and help each other in our projects and career journey. We work to shape the regulatory and policies for data analytics and data curation. We offer advice and know-how tips to members. We connect the vendors with users, governments with data stakeholders, members with mentors”, added Huseby.

“A major goal of the Association of Data Scientists and Data Engineers to bring the right forum and collaboration for exchange of data analytics knowledge, know-how and best practices”, remarked Huseby. “The association is the center of thought leadership for the community of data scientists and data engineers, the role of liaison and channel to generate value from data analytics, create a voice for all members around the world and to promote and protect the profession”, he added.

Data science is a wide and dynamic field that is being energized by other disciplines. Recent advances in computer science, artificial intelligence, engineering and statistics have blurred the lines that separated them and have introduced exciting new opportunities for further discoveries and development.
