Subsea Global Solutions Gains Approval to Perform Environmentally-Friendly Hull Cleaning in Singapore Using C-ROV Technology
Subsea Global Solutions is proud to announce that the authorities in Singapore have granted approval of our advanced hull cleaning services for vessels, allowing underwater cleaning to take place while vessels are engaged in cargo work at the terminal. This breakthrough authorization enables Subsea Global Solutions to provide efficient and eco-friendly hull cleaning services, a development that reinforces our commitment to sustainable marine operations and minimizes vessel downtime. The approved cleaning procedure requires the use of a Cleaning Remotely Operated Vehicle (C-ROV) equipped with an integrated filtration plant, designed to capture and reclaim materials, ensuring compliance with Singapore's stringent environmental regulations. This filtration technology captures biofouling debris, preventing pollutants from being discharged into the harbor and thus preserving local marine ecosystems.
"There is a large, and growing, demand for hull cleaning in Singapore," said Karl Lander, Director of Environmental Services at Subsea Global. "Approval of the C-ROV for operation there is a significant step forward for Subsea Global Solutions in advancing our capabilities to meet the demand for environmentally friendly solutions around the globe.
Captain Satnam Kumar, COO, Subsea Global Solutions added, "Singapore's approval marks a major milestone for Subsea Global Solutions, allowing us to expand our services in one of the busiest ports in the world. Our C-ROV technology not only meets regulatory standards but also reinforces our ongoing commitment to innovative, environmentally sustainable solutions for our clients."
Subsea Global Solutions Leads in Innovative Deployment of the C-ROV System in Singapore
Subsea Global Solutions' C-ROV technology is the product of years of research and engineering. Designed for precision and efficiency, the C-ROV offers a remote, diver-less solution that reduces risks while delivering thorough hull cleaning and material reclamation.
Since 2022, Subsea Global Solutions' Singapore office has been leveraging the Portable C-ROV system for underwater cleaning operations, deploying it from their dive support vessel, Achiever, in permitted locations. This cutting-edge technology integrates seamlessly with diver and ROV cleaning systems, adapting to diverse client needs across vessel types, including cruise ships, container vessels, bulk carriers, tankers, and even heavily fouled offshore semi-submersibles. To date, Subsea Global's Singapore location has successfully conducted hundreds of C-ROV cleanings, showcasing its versatility in tackling challenging biofouling scenarios.
Cleaner, Smarter, Greener: The C-ROV Advantage
The C-ROV system stands out for its simplicity and adaptability. Operable by non-diver ROV pilots or trained diver technicians, it offers unmatched flexibility in deployment. This hybrid capability allows for extended operational windows, with ROVs continuing work at night or during diver surface intervals. Additionally, the lightweight, portable design enables easy transport to remote locations, with the option to deploy as a standalone system or with full reclaim functionality, including multi-stage filtration to remove soluble metals and return water cleaner than its source.
Versatility and innovation are at the heart of Subsea Global Solutions' biofouling management strategies. The C-ROV system exemplifies this, slotting seamlessly into our suite of in-water cleaning and capture (IWCC) solutions, ensuring efficient, environmentally friendly operations wherever they're needed.
As part of this initiative, Subsea Global Solutions will offer streamlined hull cleaning services to all clients with vessels calling in Singapore, minimizing both operational disruption and environmental impact. This approval signifies the trust and confidence Singapore's port authorities have in Subsea's ability to uphold high environmental standards while enhancing vessel performance.
Subsea Global Solutions is proud to offer eco-friendly underwater cleaning services worldwide, now enhanced by the newly approved C-ROV system in Singapore. Our ECO C-ROV technology, available in Antwerp and Halifax, ensures sustainable cleaning with full reclaim capabilities, while portable systems in Miami, Sydney, and Togo provide flexible solutions for diverse operational needs. Singapore is transitioning its portable systems to reclaim functionality, further reinforcing our commitment to environmentally responsible practices. With 12+ units globally, Subsea Global continues to lead in innovative biofouling management that preserves marine ecosystems.
