Schneider Electric opens Leeds hub to address skills gaps

Energy management and automation company, Schneider Electric, has announced the opening of its Critical Power and Cooling Hub in Leeds, UK. This facility, part of the broader Customer Experience Centre and Leeds Innovation Hub, offers dedicated training for data centre, power, and cooling solutions, aimed at supporting users, channel partners, and engineers.
The Schneider Electric Critical Power and Cooling Hub in Leeds offers comprehensive training, covering innovations in three-phase uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), data centre physical infrastructure, cooling, and energy management solutions. The programme also includes insights into the latest safety standards and energy efficiency regulations impacting the industry. Accredited by Continuing Professional Development (CPD), training will be available across three similar facilities, including centres in Telford and Coventry, with a further three scheduled to launch by 2025.

Yeeles added that through the new Critical Power and Cooling Hub, the company is decentralising the necessary skills to build future grids and artificial intelligence (AI) data centres, creating a progressive training facility that supports innovation and career growth in the Northwest.

The launch of the hub marks an expansion of Schneider Electric's recently introduced UK and Ireland (UK&I) Training Programme and follows the unveiling of a 42 million ($54.3 million) manufacturing facility in Scarborough, North Yorkshire. The new hub provides direct access to Schneider Electric's EcoStruxure for Data Centre Solutions portfolio, featuring an array of training and demonstration resources.

Schneider Electric Supports the WorkforceResearch from the Uptime Institute projects the data centre industry will require 300,000 full-time professionals by 2025. In response to this demand, Schneider Electric's new hub offers structured training pathways to upskill and engage a new generation of professionals, addressing skills shortages across the sector
