Westwind Book Marketing Unveils Expert Tips for Authors' Websites
Plymouth, MI, USA - November 11, 2024 - Westwind Book Marketing, led by renowned book publicist Scott Lorenz, has released a comprehensive article [https://book-publicist.com/top-10-tips-for-creating-an-engaging-author-website/] to help authors create engaging and effective websites. "As an author, your website is a brief glimpse into who you are and what you do," says Scott Lorenz. "In today's marketplace, readers are looking to connect with their favorite authors, and books can't promote themselves. Your website is how you attract and maintain readers."
"Visuals are the first thing people see when they open your website, so make them eye-catching!" Lorenz advises. "Put your books front and center and let them speak for themselves."

"Readers want to know who you are. Consider adding an 'about' page that shares some interesting information about yourself," suggests Lorenz. "Let your personality show."
"Sharing reviews lets potential readers know what to expect from your work. And a third-party review of your book means others actually read and like the book. They also add to your credibility," Lorenz explains.
"Add a book trailer about your book. A book trailer is like a movie trailer in that it allows someone to preview a book both visually and via audio," says Lorenz. "It brings the book to life and gives the potential reader a sneak peek at the contents."
"Make it easy for readers to purchase your books by including big buttons that link to Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books a Million, The Publisher, etc.," Lorenz recommends.
"You need to get readers interested in your books, so pull excerpts from your book and place them on your website," Lorenz advises. "Pick excerpts that are well-written, set the tone for the book, and aren't too confusing without context."
"Add clips of your media interviews to your website and be sure to use the logos from media outlets as well," Lorenz suggests. "The media will often want to know how a guest might perform in an interview so having a few interviews on your website makes it easier for them to book you with confidence."
"Go after book awards and be sure to post them on your website. Book awards are a great way to position yourself in the industry. Don't be afraid to show off your accomplishments." Lorenz encourages.
"Include your entire body of work on your website. Much like a portfolio, a backlist provides readers with the full extent of your work," Lorenz explains.
"Collect the names of your visitors. Someone who buys one book is much more inclined to buy your next book. Furthermore, you can keep them up to date on new releases, your next projects, promotions, and other updates. Some authors will even ask their loyal readers to name the book. You can't do that if you don't have their names," says Lorenz.
The Bottom Line: Benchmark your author website against the best and include these features and you'll have readers coming back for more!
