A lot is happening in the business world. And recently, a veritable tsunami has swept towards me. Private communities. At first, I didn't realize what the difference was to other communities. I asked around and found out that these no longer run via social media, but are independent communities.

Let's start from the beginning. The requirements for entrepreneurs are becoming increasingly complex. Costs are rising and rising. It is becoming increasingly difficult to win and retain customers, i.e. to sustainably increase customer value. Many companies are on the brink of collapse. Is it all negative? No. Where there is shadow, there is also light. It's the same in the entrepreneurial world.

I'll get straight to the point. What's new? Private communities are the megatrend of the moment. Companies, the self-employed and freelancers, but also experts and artists with a passion or a hobby, are achieving fantastic figures that they could never have imagined before.

The reason for this megatrend

Well, you are certainly familiar with social media. Unfortunately, these are no longer so social today, advertising costs have exploded and the results from activities on them are not satisfying anymore. You could say: a lot of effort and little return. And the trend is downwards.

The interaction rate in social media is low anyway and dropping. The reason: people receive a lot of advertising and content that is irrelevant to them, plus there are too many weirdos who know everything better, who spread hate messages and attack people. That's annoying. Many people are leaving because they don't want that anymore and don't want to waste their time. Not easy for entrepreneurs.

What do people want?

Content that interests them and exchanging ideas with like-minded people. This is what private communities offer. All companies, the self-employed and freelancers can set up their own private community. But also people who have expertise, like artists, who have a passion, a hobby but no business and want to share this knowledge. Simply and quickly. In this way, they build up a network of people who become loyal fans because they are in good hands in a family of like-minded people. No matter what industry or topic it is. They don't have to have a business or a company, they just have to be interested in a certain topic and invite people.

It's amazing how many communities are being set up and how many members they have. Tens of thousands of communities, some with hundreds or thousands of members.

Even more amazing: the members even pay a monthly or annual membership fee. They want to be part of this community. They are happy in the community and stick with it.

Companies

This is highly interesting for companies, as it allows them to build up a stable customer base, means loyal fans. They generate a second revenue. And this is passive, sometimes very high and regular. How great is that?

Experts: turning a hobby into a profession

But private individuals with a passion or hobby can also turn their passion or hobby into a lucrative and secure business. Building a business from nothing. Why not? Some people do this and are more than happy with it. They pursue their passion anyway, but now they earn money, the work is fun and they invest less time. Wonderful.

Community and earning money?

If you had told me a few months ago that people would pay to be in a community like this, I would have just shaken my head. But it's a reality. People are reflecting on the values. And they are prepared to pay for it.

That's how the community fills up with people who fit together. A lively exchange takes place - and that is the true value of a community. This is called community learning.

In most cases, the interaction rate is over 90%. Some communities even reach 100%! Why? Like-minded people.

Communities on the market

I had a look at several communities. It's absolutely great what you get for small monthly contributions. For all kinds of topics. Very interesting. And I'm really amazed at how many people enjoy it and how many take part. Despite the membership fees.

And it's amazing how much some community owners earn just from their community. In addition to their core business. Often even more than that.

Community providers

There are already several providers of community software. Not really expensive. Between $99 and $399 per month. So for an additional business to win customers and turn them into loyal fans, very little. Especially when you see how much money is spent on advertising and marketing and how much is wasted. A private community is a real game changer. Performance marketing. Impressive.

I was able to talk to a provider that offers its software free of charge on a joint venture basis. So no monthly or annual fees. Peer Sens, developer.

He says that private communities are the megatrend because many people are realizing that they can no longer move forward. And he wants to help small companies, start-ups and private individuals with expertise to be able to afford it. Zero investment! That way, they have no financial pressure and no risk. Everything is even set up for community founders, because most of them never get around to implementing their ideas due to a lack of time and technical hurdles. They receive advice and support and there is even a free live starter class where they can ask questions and exchange ideas. Peer has also written many books on these topics, all of which he gives away. That surprised me, as most people today only have money on their minds. So that my readers can also download on of Peer's eBook "The Private Community" free of charge, I am providing the link here:

Highly recommended, as it shows the benefits.

By the way, the software will be launched in the USA, Canada and the UK on November 16, 2024. I'm really excited to see what it looks like, because Peer hasn't told me anything else yet. Here is the link to the launch event:

I will be happy to provide further information if you are interested. Just get in touch with me.
