NBTXR3 is a potential first-in-class radioenhancer and is the first therapeutic candidate from the first platform. NBTXR3 is being developed and potentially commercialized in collaboration with NBTXR3 global licensee Janssen Pharmaceutica NV (Janssen), which is a Johnson & Johnson company. Nanobiotix plans to advance development of the two other platforms post-commercialization of NBTXR-3.
On 7 May 2024, SN Bioscience Co. Ltd. announced that it had been granted Fast Track Designation for Small Cell Lung Cancer (SCLC) for SNB-101 (API: SN-38) by the FDA. SNB-101 is the first-ever nanoparticle anticancer drug to be developed in the world and is composed of extremely insoluble SN-38 incorporated into polymer nanoparticles. This new drug is under clinical trial and had been designated as an orphan drug for small cell lung cancer in July 2023 and for pancreatic cancer February 2024. The company expects to commercialize immediately post completion of phase 2 clinical trials.
