Jeken Unveils Advanced Integrated Pest Management Solutions

Jeken, a leader in sustainable agricultural solutions, has launched its integrated pest management (IPM) system specifically crafted for greenhouses. According to Han Ching Hsu, the new service aims to address the growing concerns of greenhouse farmers about pest infestations that threaten crop quality and productivity.

Jeken [http://jeken.com.tw/], a leading name in sustainable agricultural solutions in China, announces the launch of its integrated pest management (IPM) system designed for greenhouse environments.

In a press interview in Beijing, Han Ching Hsu of Jeken says that in order to manage pests and safeguard the health of crops and the environment, this new service focuses on early detection, natural biological controls, and minimal chemical intervention.

"This new system aims to address the challenges faced by greenhouse farmers in maintaining healthy and productive crops. Traditional pest control methods commonly rely on chemical pesticides, which can harm the environment. This new IPM system provides a more sustainable and effective approach," explains Hsu.

The IPM system focuses on prevention through early detection. It utilizes pheromone [https://blog.jeken.com.tw/2024/01/26/greenhouse_pheromone_traps] traps and monitoring techniques to determine pest activity before it becomes a serious problem. Hsu says that by integrating biological controls, including the introduction of beneficial insects to combat harmful pests, the system ensures a balanced greenhouse ecosystem.

"The new IPM system, which has been rolled out in China and will benefit other farming practices on a global level, provides greenhouse farmers with a solution that not only controls pests but does so sustainably and effectively," said Hsu.

Jeken's greenhouse-specific IPM system is now available for commercial operators. It provides a comprehensive, customizable approach to pest management that aligns with environmental and operational goals.

Jeken's IPM solution combines several approaches, including biological control, pheromone-based monitoring, and strategic pesticide use. At the core of the system is early detection and prevention. The system identifies pest activity through constant monitoring with pheromone traps before it reaches damaging levels. This early intervention allows for timely action, minimizing the need for chemical treatments.

"Pheromone traps provide a highly targeted and environmentally friendly method. They help with monitoring and controlling pest populations without harming beneficial organisms, which is critical for maintaining a balanced ecosystem inside the greenhouse," explains Hsu.

The system also incorporates biological control by introducing beneficial insects, such as predatory mites and parasitoid wasps, that prey on harmful pests. This revolutionary approach reduces the need for chemical pesticides, ensuring the safety of crops and the surrounding environment.

Jeken has also scaled up cultural practices and mechanical barriers to help more farmers. According to Hsu, Proper crop spacing, rotation, and maintaining optimal humidity levels create an environment that is less conducive to pests. Physical barriers, such as mesh screens, prevent pests from entering the greenhouse while handpicking or vacuuming methods offer non-chemical solutions for small-scale infestations.

"We've designed our system to minimize pesticide use, opting instead for methods that support long-term environmental health. When chemical interventions are necessary, we use targeted, eco-friendly products that are safer for both the plants and those working with them."

Hsu says the launch of Jeken's greenhouse-specific IPM solution [https://blog.jeken.com.tw/2024/01/26/greenhouse_pheromone_traps] comes at a time when greenhouse farming is seeing substantial growth, driven by the demand for year-round fresh produce.

However, this growth has also highlighted greenhouse farmers' challenges in maintaining pest-free environments without relying heavily on chemical treatments. Jeken's IPM system seeks to fill this gap by providing an effective, sustainable solution that supports high crop yields while preserving the integrity of the ecosystem.
