Red Power Energy Announces Solar Microgrid LOI with Tohono O'odham Nation's San Lucy District
Red Power Energy, a Native-owned renewable energy company, has entered a strategic partnership with the San Lucy District of the Tohono O'odham Nation to develop, construct and operate a solar microgrid project. This initiative aims to boost energy sovereignty and support sustainable economic growth for the 10,409-acre community near Gila Bend, Arizona.Letter of Intent for 1.5 MW Microgrid Project
Red Power Energy has also been awarded a Letter of Intent (LOI) by the San Lucy District for the development of a 1.5 MW microgrid-battery project. This milestone supports the company's mission to provide sustainable energy solutions tailored to tribal communities.
The project will:
Increasing energy independence for the San Lucy District
Reducing reliance on traditional power grids
Lowering energy costs for community members
Creating local job opportunities in renewable energy
Serving as a model for sustainable development in Native American communities

Tribal Ownership Focus
Red Power Energy's vision includes a focus on tribal ownership of the microgrid, ensuring that tribal communities control and benefit from the asset for generations. "Our mission is to create tribal energy projects that tribes own, operate, and benefit from directly," said Eli Hopaii, Vice-Chairman of Red Power Energy.
The project is expected to begin next month and will serve as a blueprint for similar initiatives on tribal lands across the U.S.
