Various companies' proprietary Deterministic Cell Separation™ microfluidic technology, provides gentle separation to the cells while delivering unparalleled recovery and purity of target white blood cells. For instance, in January 2023, Curate Biosciences launched its Curate® Cell Processing System. The first-of-its-kind Curate System produces better starting materials for CAR-T cancer therapies and other cell therapies. Its exceptionally gentle microfluidic process recovers about 90.0% of white blood cells with the elimination of more than 90.0% of red cells and 99.0% of platelets from patient-sourced leukapheresis blood products.
In fields such as cell-based immunotherapy, it has been gaining recognition as a treatment for cancer and autoimmune disorders. To produce the cell therapies necessary for this treatment, there is an increasing demand for isolating cells with high purity and high viability in a sterile manner. For instance, in January 2022, Sony Corp. launched a new Cell separation System, CGX10, that sorts cells at high speed and high purity in a closed system. The CGX10's design enables the sorting of cells in a manner that is entirely closed off from the outside environment, making it possible to analyze and isolate cells while maintaining a sterile state.
