The ZYG 808 Celebrate the release of his sophomore project

On Saturday, September 21st, at 9 PM, Oversoul Theatre Collective and Bars Over Bars Media unite for a night of unforgettable music and artistic expression at the Underground Railroad Cafe (213 Acushnet Ave, New Bedford). Celebrating the release of the highly anticipated album BUILD/DESTROY by The ZYG 808, this event promises to be an explosive showcase of the region's top-tier talent.

Headlined by The ZYG 808, the night will also feature performances by an all-star lineup of artists across genres. These dynamic performers will bring an electrifying blend of hip-hop, alternative rock, indie pop, and neo-soul to the Underground Railroad Cafe's intimate stage.

The ZYG 808 is a rising force in indie music and alternative hip-hop, known for his boundary-pushing sound and dynamic performances. His latest release, BUILD/DESTROY, marks his second full album and showcases his growth as an artist, blending hard-hitting lyricism with innovative production. Featuring standout guest appearances from Bishop the Shadowman, Fro Indigo, Mwalim DaPhunkee Professor, Spidakg, and JJ-Nice, the album explores themes of resilience, self-determination, and the dualities of creation and destruction. With BUILD/DESTROY, The ZYG 808 cements his place as a bold, independent voice in hip-hop.

"Bars over Thump & Soul" is not just a celebration of BUILD/DESTROY, but also a celebration of New Bedford's thriving artistic community, blending the elements of hip-hop with the smooth, vibrant energy of soul and alternative sounds. The event marks another installment of the popular THUMP & SOUL SESSION, now hosted monthly at the Underground Railroad Cafe, a new resident space for Oversoul Theatre Collective.

Mwalim DaPhunkee Professor, Artistic Director of Oversoul Theatre Collective and one of the evening's performers, said, "This collaboration represents the best of what our community has to offer-great music, powerful stories, and a platform for artists to share their voices. We're honored to celebrate the release of The ZYG 808's groundbreaking album alongside such incredible talent."

Now in its new home at the Underground Railroad Cafe, THUMP & SOUL SESSION takes place every third Saturday of the month at 9 PM. Attendees are invited to groove to the sounds of House Music, Rare Groove, and Afrobeats, spun by the resident sound system WAMPTRONICA, along with guest DJs and live performers. It's an evening of music, dancing, and community in a space dedicated to creative expression.
