Hollywood Actor Robert LaSardo Makes Directorial Debut with "American Trash" - Now Streaming Across North America
Set against the backdrop of a deteriorating Los Angeles, "American Trash" follows war veteran Milles Carpis (LaSardo) as he grapples with PTSD and navigates a city plagued by environmental decay, chaos, and a rampant drug epidemic. After the murder of the woman he loves (Lorelei Linklater), Carpis seeks solace from a group of new age hippie friends while struggling to avoid violence. He turns to Detective Anderson (Costas Mandylor) for help in tracking down the killer.
On his transition to directing, LaSardo shares: "I wanted to make a movie that gave me room to express feelings within my work that I've never been allowed to explore in the mainstream. I feel I have been pigeonholed by an image that does not reflect my range or creative skill set."
LaSardo adds, "It's a very somber and slow film deliberately, to be in contrast with the sensationalized lunacy that for me has been devoid of substance or soul."
The film also stars Tom Sizemore and is executive produced by LaSardo, Diana Ramos-Santiago Carter and Josh Webber producing.
"American Trash" offers a raw, unflinching look at urban decay and personal redemption, marking an ambitious directorial debut for LaSardo that showcases his range both in front of and behind the camera.
