American Legion 597 hosts 4th Annual Chili Cook Off and Silent Auction fundraiser., Carrollton TX
This event is the Legion 597 family's largest fundraiser of the year. The event raised over $4000 last year, with a goal of $6000+ for this year. The funds will allow the members to continue their mission to support Veterans, Military, their families, and the community. American Legion 597 Family has donated over 15,000 volunteer hours and more than $20,000 to various Veteran and Community programs and projects including, but not limited to, Boys and Girls State, National Veterans Arts Festival, Sweats for Vets, Christmas for Kids, Operation Purple Camp, Cancer Research, Thanksgiving Soup Kitchen, Dallas Life Homeless Shelter, and Birdwell Foundation for PTSD.

The American Legion Post 597 was chartered March 15, 1947 and was designated as the very first "Purple Heart" post in the US on March 12, 2018. The Legion 597 family includes members of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 597, Sons of the American Legion Squadron 597, and American Legion Riders Chapter 597. The Post prides itself on being a safe place for Veterans, their families, and the community to gather. Sam Pack's Five Star Ford and Five Star Chevrolet are one of the sponsors of this event.
