Content provider claims leadership position for quality and innovation for personalisation contents for mobile phones

Cologne, 30 January 2008 — mobivention is a leading mobile content provider, formerly known as MEF Mobile Entertainment Factory. The company believes in the still growing mobile entertainment market. According to Juniper Research the mobile entertainment market has the potential to reach $76 billion by 2011. This is in line with the annual revenue growth of mobivention which accounted for approximately 50% in 2007.

During the Mobile World Congress mobivention is presenting product innovations and new product launches. This year’s highlights of the mobivention exhibition are the following topics:

- UI themes
- NexGen Wallpaper & Screensaver
- Online Wallpaper

UI themes – also called skins or styles – are a mean of personalisation of mobiles. With themes the user interface of a mobile phone consisting of wallpaper, screensaver and ringtone as well as bars and buttons can be designed. This leads to an customized design of the mobile phone.

As with the launch of UI Themes at the 3GSM World Congress in Cannes, France in February 2005 mobivention has achieved a leading position with this content type globally. Currently a portfolio of 600 themes is available and more than 400 handsets are supported. Themes of mobivention are distributed through leading mobile network operators and independent portals around the globe.

With the market launch of animated themes last year the next step of development is initialized. So far it was only possible to use static background pictures for themes. Now mobivention can also offer themes with animated backgrounds based upon Flash Lite, SVG-T or GIF. mobivention will present these products at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and will launch it for mobivention’s worldwide distribution channels.

Other highlights of the exhibition are NexGen wallpapers & screensaver. With wallpapers and screensavers based on Flash Lite and Java it is feasible to complete background images with active components. Old style animations have been upgraded by Flash lite animations which offer a much higher frame rate and a smaller file size than normal animations in GIF format. The normal static background wallpaper has been upgraded by Flash lite timebased wallpapers which are changing three times a day and presenting each time a different background wallpaper. The latest innovation is an online wallpaper which is able to provide always up-to-date information without user interaction and brings true always-on feeling to mobile devices.
