GCP Central and NFU Launch Innovative eBROK Course for Continuous Learning in Clinical Research
Dateline: Utrecht, September 2, 2024GCP Central is proud to announce the launch of the eBROK course that was built for the Netherlands Federation of University Medical Centres (NFU). The launch of the 'future-proof' eBROK course on September 2nd, 2024 introduces a new era of continuous learning and flexible recertification for clinical researchers working at academic hospitals, ensuring that knowledge remains current and impactful in the fast-paced field of clinical research. GCP Central will maintain and host the BROK course for a period of at least 3,5 years.
The eBROK course revolutionizes the recertification process for the BROK register by embracing continuous learning and eliminating the need for a traditional BROK exam. This new approach integrates the Powerapp, which provides regular question-based and adaptive learning to researchers, keeping their knowledge up-to-date and measurable. With this method, recertification can be achieved flexibly, and will be based on the actual knowledge of the researchers. No more retraining necessity, but acknowledgement of their knowledge.
Key features of the eBROK course include:
• Flexible Learning: The course is available on smartphones, computers, and tablets, allowing researchers to fit learning into their busy schedules.
• Comprehensive Modules: The eBROK course consists of five basic modules, a knowledge test, one UMC-specific meeting, and a choice of one of four advanced modules tailored to different types of research (WMO research, non-WMO research, medical device research, and research with medicinal products).
• Certification: Certificates are directly downloadable from the eBROK learning environment, and recertification is simplified: the valid until date of the eBROK basic and eBROK advanced certificates are continuously updated upon recertification activities of the researchers. Allowing auditors, monitors and inspectors to have up-to-date insights in regulatory training compliance.
• Interactive Content: Written by experts in the field, the content is highly interactive and specifically designed to apply to the type of research the participant is conducting.
• Automated Exemptions: Researchers who currently hold a BROK ID and an active certification are automatically exempt from the basic modules, the basic knowledge test and CSB and can directly start their recertification.
• Integrated BROK Register: The BROK register is seamlessly integrated into the NFU eBROK learning environment, and include notifications will be sent if registration expires soon.
Marieke Meulemans, GCP Central CEO, on the development process, " It was a long-held dream for GCP Central, but especially for myself, to get the chance to develop the eBROK course. Setting up a completely new structure and content for the eBROK in just six months was a challenge. However, thanks to the fantastic team on both the GCP Central and NFU sides, we have created a brand new eBROK that is ready for the future."
