Schneider Electric: Data Centre White Space Portfolio for AI
Schneider Electric enhances data centre performance with new NetShelter SX Gen2 enclosures and aisle containment solutionsSchneider Electric has updated White Space portfolio to optimise data centre efficiency, with NetShelter SX Gen2 Enclosures and Aisle Containment Solutions
Schneider Electric has revealed its updated data centre White Space portfolio, which is built for data centres supporting high-density applications, AI workloads, and complying with regulations such as the European Energy Efficiency Directive (EED).
The White Space portfolio includes:
- The NetShelter SX Gen2 enclosures
- A new version of NetShelter Aisle Containment
- The latest enhancements to the NetShelter Rack PDU Advanced.
Schneider Electric's NetShelter offers greater data centre performance
Energy management and automation solutions innovator, Schneider Electric manufactures technologies for power distribution, cooling and automation, as well as optimising energy efficiency and reliability, which are used across the data centre sector.
The NetShelter SX Gen2 enclosures are built to support the demands of modern data centres. The new racks can support 25% more weight than previous models, essential for accommodating the heavier, denser equipment associated with AI and high-performance computing.
The doors have increased airflow using enhanced perforation, which is essential for cooling high-density server configurations. The racks offer additional space and cable management options for more complex server setups.
The enclosures also have all-steel construction and three-point-locking systems to improve data centre protection.
Schneider Electric said the NetShelter SX Gen2 racks lower the overall climate change impact by around 3.3% per rack. They are designed to be approximately 97% recyclable. These racks are available in standard sizes of 42U, 45U, and 48U along with three models: wide, extra-wide and deep.
The latest NetShelter Aisle Containment can reach up to 20% more cooling capacity, which is vital for managing the heat generated by AI servers. The system incorporates an air flow controller that automates fan speed, lowering fan energy consumption by up to 40% compared to traditional passive cooling systems.
The vendor neutral containment systems offer flexibility and faster speed of setup for data centre operators, making for simpler integration and adaptation to existing builds. The new design also simplifies installation and field modifications, while reducing energy expenses by up to 10%.
Our sister title Mobile Magazine previously spoke with Andres Vasquez, Global Segment Director at Schneider Electric, to explore the challenges that traditional telcos, cloud service providers and data centre colocation providers face when building an edge data centre ecosystem.
Enhanced data centre portfolio to meet AI and high-density demands
Marc Garner, Senior Vice President, Secure Power Europe at Schneider Electric, said that he was proud of the company for forging ahead to face the opportunities and challenges of AI.
"I'm very excited to announce that we've unveiled our enhanced data centre white space portfolio, specifically designed to meet the demands of AI and high-density applications.
"The portfolio is tailored for modern data centres, especially those managing high-density applications, AI workloads and complying with regulations such as the EED.
"This innovation is a significant step forward in ensuring our data centres are equipped to handle the future of AI and other demanding applications, all while maintaining our commitment to sustainability and efficiency."
"With enhanced weight support, airflow management and physical security, we are enabling our users to optimise their data centre operations while also advancing sustainability," said Elliott Turek, Director of Category Management, Secure Power Division at Schneider Electric.
