Hands on Experience is the key as new Residential Music Production Retreat Opens in Kent

A new residential music production retreat has been launched at Blue Bell Hill Studios in Kent. The 5-night Music Production Retreat (MPR) is for those seeking a career in music who lack experience or keen amateurs who have always wanted to experience the creative magic of a world-class residential studio environment.

The key to the music production retreat, which covers the creative process from songwriting and recording techniques to programming and mixing, is the combination of the people involved, the studio itself and the beautiful location.
Those attending will work alongside Grammy Award winning producer Jim Abbiss (Adele, Kasabian, Artic Monkeys, Björk) as well as leading mixer Barny Barnicott (Coldplay, Artic Monkeys, Suede, Jungle) and songwriter Chris James, AKA Run Rivers (DJ Shadow, Tinlicker, Andrew Bayer, Chicane).

As Barny says, "We give those attending the music production retreat a real taste of what working in a professional residential studio is all about. It's a creative and organic experience, and that's what we want to get across to those attending. They won't leave with a certificate, but they will leave with a real understanding of the creative process and having gotten hands-on with like-minded people on all aspects of music production."

Blue Bell Hill Studios is in the beautiful Kent countryside an hour outside of London and has been used by hundreds of recording artists as a base for their needs. As well as a large live room the studio has an SSL G Series mixing desk (purchased from the now defunct Eden Studios in London) used to record artists as diverse as Joy Division, The Killers, George Michael and Kylie Minogue. The studio is adjoined to Denmark House, a large luxurious country home which has nine bedrooms, excellent catering facilities and all the home comforts to ensure the creative process can take place in tranquil comfort.
