COMPRION Launches Software for Managing eUICC Profile Functionality

09-12-2016 03:49 PM CET | Media & Telecommunications

Press release from: COMPRION GmbH

COMPRION is the only test company so far to configure and provision eUICCs soldered into a device
COMPRION eUICC Profile Manager is a new piece of modular software that consists of a set of server simulations which access the various eUICC capabilities. eUICC Profile Manager covers both GSMA eUICC specifications: M2M and Consumer Devices. Hajo Sandschneider, Marketing Director at COMPRION explains, “By performing the regular remote SIM provisioning scenarios in a lab environment, devices that are equipped with eUICCs can be prepared and preconfigured for usage or testing purposes, for example, the network interface. COMPRION eUICC Profile Manager is the most suitable tool for this task.”
The software allows mobile network operators and eUICC manufacturers to manage eUICC profiles by editing their application and file content. The software also supports device and module manufacturers in various industries to ensure eUICC profile functionality and to launch reliable services.

Working on eUICC content once it is soldered into a device is a very challenging task as there is no physical interface for accessing the card. “Nevertheless, COMPRION has found a way to work with these devices by provisioning or configuring the eUICC over a cellular network connection established by a network simulator,” Sandschneider explicates. If the (e)UICC is removable, a simpler setup variant with COMPRION Network Bridge replaces the use of mobile equipment and simulator hardware.

eUICC Profile Manager consists of two main components covering the complete life cycle management of eUICC profiles: the Profile Explorer and the Profile Loader. The Profile Explorer is used to scan and update already provisioned profiles including remote file and application management (RFM and RAM). With the Profile Loader option, eUICC profiles can be loaded, deleted, enabled, or disabled.

Different instruments work seamlessly together and are optimized for each other. Sandschneider specifies, “Provisioning of eUICCs is a challenging and complex task – even for simple testing purposes. That’s why it was our highest priority to create a very clean and intuitive user interface allowing the test operators to easily handle their eUICCs.”
