Meet Plaans - a documentation tool for construction sites
Plaans is a comprehensive, easy-to-use iPad app for architects, facility managers, surveyors, and construction engineers that provides a wide range of useful features for construction site documentation and inspections. With Plaans, the Germany-based company Mikavaa presents a comprehensive and easy-to-use iPad app for architects, facility managers, surveyors, and construction engineers. The app provides a wide range of useful tools for construction site documentation and inspections.
Plaans simplifies and optimizes the recording of location-based information in building, planning, and engineering projects, and fits perfectly into existing work flows. Not limited to minimizing the use of digital working plans and the amount of carried equipment, the possibility of localizing information at its exact position within a site saves an enormous amount of time processing the collected data afterwards.
One of the key features of Plaans is the photo documentation tool. It lets the user take a photo of a defect, construction error, or any other point of interest, and locate it directly on a digital floor plan – including the viewing direction and additional notes, if neccesary. The audio tool works in a similar way by allowing users to record short voice messages to retain ideas and thoughts. Plaans also provides various measurement functions to support surveying projects.
Plaans stores the collected information in a well organized file-and-folder structure. Projects are exported as browser-based interactive plans and indexed PDF files. This makes the subsequent data processing as easy as possible.
“From my own experiences with site inspections for building projects, I know the common problems that occur,” explains Johan Wagner, Architect and Co-founder of Mikavaa, “especially when you have to carry loads of plans. Sorting through huge amounts of photos taken on-site and having to match them to the plans afterwards took hours. We initially developed an app to help us internally with the latter problem - an early version of Plaans - and were surprised by how many of our colleagues were desperately looking for a tool like this. So we decided to put it out there and improve it based on user feedback.”
Meanwhile Plaans has grown to a comprehensive collection of useful tools in one simple and easy-to-use iPad app. Since its launch in the German-speaking market, it has found a great number of satisfied clients, from surveyors, facility managers, architects to major engineering companies.
Plaans is now also available for the English-speaking market. It can be downloaded from the Apple App Store for free evaluation. The full version can be unlocked via In-App-Purchase for an one-time-only fee. No additional costs will appear. Quantity discounts are available on request.

Germany-based developer Mikavaa announces the upcoming release of its first mobile virtual reality action game with the rather weird name “Glubsch” - yeah, try to say it again. :) Glubsch is a first-person shooter game in which players have to fight against attacking waves of hostile microbes in a creepy and foreboding cave landscape.
One of Glubsch’s unique characteristics is its new approach to first-person interaction inside VR without the…

REVIZ - Virtual Reality in architectural design
2016 is clearly the year of Virtual Reality. It’s one of the hottest topics on technology blogs and news.
