The Brief
In November of 2023, Valentina and her team were approached by the client with a request to transform their empty Amsterdam apartment [https://labodina.com/portfolio/27-Exquisite-Urban-Haven-Delightful-Apartment-Near-Amsterdams-Central-Station?light_mode=object_after] into a peaceful sanctuary of comfort and inspiration.
The client wanted elements of contemporary living blended with functionality and minimalism. The apartment was handed over to Design Labodina as a blank canvas, with nothing but basic fixtures.
The Concept
After days of deliberation, Deign Labodina came up with a detailed transformation plan for the apartment. Valentina landed on Japandi as the main aesthetic inspiration since she believed it best fit the client's needs and vision.
The Japandi style [https://labodina.com/portfolio/27-Exquisite-Urban-Haven-Delightful-Apartment-Near-Amsterdams-Central-Station?light_mode=object_after] is influenced by the ancient Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi; a way of life that values slow living and simplicity, as well as the Scandinavian practice of hygge; which prioritizes comfort and well-being.
Collaborating intimately with the client, Valentina oversaw every aspect of the project - from handpicking skilled builders and contractors to curating and installing customized furniture, ambient lighting, and modern fittings.

The Execution
After two months of dedicated hard work, the project was officially completed by the start of February 2024. The client ended up with a home that completely aligned with their needs and vision. Valentina made use of both natural light in the daytime and warm ambient mood lights in the evening to create a cozy inviting feel throughout the apartment.
She chose organic materials, neutral color palettes, and ageless design elements to make the renovation withstand the test of time. Indoor plants were strategically incorporated throughout the house for a fresh, clean aesthetic and a pop of color. The abstract artwork used complemented the overall contemporary aesthetic.
