To the Survivors is a moving collection of testimonies from survivors of sexual abuse, written by Robert Uttaro, a thirty-year-old American working as a volunteer at a support center for abused people. Through this collection, the author describes sexual abuse in all its terrible reality, labeling it for what it is: a horrible crime against people who are violated in body and spirit. The work is, at the same time, a light of hope in the black hole of loneliness of those who have been victims of violence. A way to give voice to those who have been abused by their best friend, their partner, their husband, their employer, a priest. True stories, real life, not a television show. These stories tell sexual violence from the depths of the victims' souls, exposing their emotions openly and without hypocrisy. They are normal people. Like me, like you. Their stories are told with delicacy and respect. The aim of the entire work is to make these survivors feel listened to and understood. How difficult it is to be understood in the field of sexual trauma! The blame, according to the ill-thinking, always lies with the abused and never with the abuser. To the Survivors tells the drama of those who have had their lives destroyed by sexual abuse. Because violence always changes you. Willingly or not! Yet, between these pages, a positive message also emerges. It is the message of those who do not give up and do everything to rebuild an existence interrupted by a painful and difficult trauma to erase. The work has, however, the merit of restoring dignity and attention to the survivors of one or more sexual abuses. Surviving violence and moving on is always a form of forgiveness. Some stories can be disturbing, but it is worth reading and knowing them, to understand how much pain and suffering are hidden in the hearts of those who, in the course of their lives, have had the misfortune of being abused. A book of this kind is also a way to say "No" to sexual abuse and give readers a vigorous testament against all forms of physical and moral violence.

About the Author
A graduate in Law, with a specialization in Criminal Justice, Robert Uttaro, an American, has been involved for 12 years in the activity of counselor for victims of sexual abuse. Thanks to his assistance as a volunteer in a recovery center for sexually abused people, he came into contact with hundreds of stories and testimonies collected in his book entitled To The Survivors. For his commitment as an activist against sexual crimes and for the strong international interest generated by his book, Robert Uttaro has appeared in various radio and television interviews. To The Survivors also gave its title to a radio broadcast in Nigeria. Even today, 4 years after its first release, Robert Uttaro's collection continues to spark discussion and keep attention high on the issue of preventing sexual abuse and protecting victims.
