Schneider Electric powers Delhi's mega wastewater plant

Schneider Electric is supporting the Namami Gange initiative through the automation of India's largest single stage wastewater treatment plant in Delhi. The plant is being constructed by SUEZ under the Delhi Jal Board Yamuna Action Plan, with Schneider Electric as the primary energy management and automation solution provider. The plant has a capacity to treat 564 million liters of sewage per day, aimed at meeting the needs of approximately 30 million residents of the national capital. The facility is set to enhance water quality and reduce pollution in the Yamuna River, producing around 50 per cent of its energy needs through biogas.

The plant is equipped with Schneider Electric's IoT-enabled EcoStruxure platform, providing a secure and efficient approach to wastewater treatment. This includes the EcoStruxure Process Expert Automation platform, Altivar Process Drives, Altivar Soft Starters, Micom relays, transformers, and MV & LV solutions. Through collaboration with SUEZ, Schneider Electric has integrated electrical and automation solutions within the plant to enhance operational efficiency and reliability. SUEZ leads the project with advanced technologies adapted to local conditions, meeting health standards, and protecting water resources and biodiversity. The project also allows the reuse of wastewater where appropriate.
