The only Greek stand up comedian will appear on Hackney Empire (London, UK) on Saturday February 2, to 'fight' for one of the most prestigious awards in UK comedy....cause 'comedy' is a ....Greek word.

THE EVENT: Comedy's favourite grumpy old man ARTHUR SMITH hosts the celebrated annual Hackney Empire New Act of the Year Finals. For over 25 years the show has unleashed the sharpest, wittiest and most inventive new comics on to the grand Hackney Empire stage and then on to rock'n'roll comedy stardom: RUSSELL BRAND, CATHRINE TATE, GINA YASHERE, LUKE TOULSON and MEN IN COATS, to name a few. Join the throng of comedy celebrities, agents and the media to witness the stars of the future.

Stand-up comedy is non-existing in Greece which makes Manos the Greek the ONLY Greek stand up comedian. Manos immigrated to UK few years ago to study which he did by completing a MSc and PhD in plant physiology! Plants proved less exciting than anticipated so less than 2 years ago he started his comic career and never looked back. Following two Edinburgh shows with Free Fringe (Manos the Greek and The Johny Foreigner Comedy Show (on of the 100 best things to see in Edinburgh Festival' Sunday Times), he is now contesting for the prestigious HACKNEY EMPIRE New Act of the Year 2008 award.
