Press release from: POOL4TOOL AG

Vienna | Stuttgart | Munich | Belgrade | Detroit | Singapore | Dubai, 16. August 2016 - With the new whitepaper, "The Direct Material Procurement Challenge", the procurement software vendor POOL4TOOL is giving buyers a new tool. The whitepaper covers the challenges of Direct Material Procurement, what's important to consider when choosing a software solution, and the potential hidden in Direct Procurement. The publication is part of a new information campaign from POOL4TOOL. http://p4t.info/openprdmpcwpen

The difference between Direct and Indirect Procurement is well-known among Procurement professionals. Direct Material Procurement is unique. For example, parts and components that go into the product have different quality criteria to indirect goods and services. Compliance, quality, and multi-level bills of materials are key specificities. On top of that, materials’ requirements for suppliers and the whole supply chain are more and more complex. All these differences are often not sufficiently taken into account when selecting a software solution. "Indirect solutions cannot meet the specificities of Direct Material Procurement. People have to use the right tool for the right job!” says Bertrand Maltaverne, Senior Consultant, POOL4TOOL AG, from experience.

New whitepaper as a tool for Procurement professionals

Due to the complexity of Direct Procurement, it is difficult to choose the right solution, even for Procurement professionals. To help Procurement professionals in selecting or assessing Procurement solutions, POOL4TOOL has just released a new white paper which is part of the broader communication campaign, started in July. Written by Procurement pro, Michael Lamoureux from Sourcing Innovation, “The Direct Material Procurement Challenge” provides new and fresh insights into Direct Material Procurement and explains: why Direct Procurement is so different from Indirect Procurement, how much using the wrong tool can cost you, and what the six-step supplier management process at the heart of world-class Direct Procurement is. In addition, it includes a full checklist of what you must check with Procurement software vendors.

Number one for Direct Procurement

POOL4TOOL understands the problems and concerns of Direct Material Procurement very well and has therefore published the whitepaper with input from the field. Based on his experience with numerous customers from companies in plant & mechanical engineering and in the automotive industry, POOL4TOOL CEO Thomas Dieringer understands the importance of Supplier Relationship Management for manufacturers and the strict requirements for suppliers. "The requirements in each Procurement category are very unique and complex. In Direct Material Procurement, suppliers can increasingly become partners in the development phase. Switching suppliers requires a prohibitive amount of effort and cost, which is something Procurement wants to avoid. Targeted risk management helps insure companies against supplier disruptions."

The school procurement process
Schools, like all public sector bodies and larger private sector organisations, conduct their procurement according to budgets. These budgets are set at the top of the organisation’s tree and filtered down to the budget holders who have been given the responsibility to spend this money. Spend being the operative word. School procurement is a little bit like a communist society – spend it or lose it.
