Aaron Faber Gallery’s Annual Fall Exhibition Will Explore Modern Sculpture as Envisioned Through the Genius of 13 Celebrated Jewelry Artists
Before Auguste Rodin revolutionized the 19th century art scene with his evocative approach to sculpture, artists were content to draw sculptural inspiration from mythology and history, sculpting forms and figures that fit an idealized image. Rodin, instead, chose to expose the raw emotion and natural vitality he saw in his subjects. He employed a motif that explored spatial form rather than solid; sinuous lines rather than straight; and textured molds rather than smooth. His approach is considered to have been the birth of Modern Sculpture.For the annual 2016 Fall exhibition, Aaron Faber Gallery challenged thirteen celebrated jewelry artists to maneuver Rodin’s path to create jewelry pieces inspired by the principles of modern sculpture.

Aaron Faber Gallery was founded in 1974 to present the work of studio jewelers, those artists creating one-of-a-kind jewels that are inspired by creativity and originality, made in the artist’s studio and imbued with the artist’s spirit, concept and style.
The gallery, owned by Edward and Patricia Faber is located on West 53rd Street down the block from the Museum of Modern Art, where its contemporary interior is the backdrop for changing exhibitions by studio jewelers as well as permanent collections by the gallery’s artist group.
