California's "Laughing Ginger" wins a red hot American Laughing Championship
New York, NY - June 20, 2024 - In an inspiring display of contagious laughter, Leah Johnson, the Laughing Ginger, has guffawed and snorted her way to victory in America's ultimate laughing contest. Known as "The Laughing Ginger," Johnson says her victory helps dispel the stereotype that redheads can be overly serious.
"People used to laugh at me. But look who's laughing now?" said the newly crowned American Laughing Champion 2024.
The American Laughing Championship, held online on Zoom is in it's 9 year. It brought together participants from across the nation to compete in various laughter categories, including the Most Contagious laugh, Best Diabolical Laugh and Most Accomplished Snort Laugh, among others.
The Laughing Ginger survived ten tough laughing challenges and still came out on top.
Historically, people with red hair have faced various stereotypes, including the misconception that they can be fiery tempered and overly serious. Johnson is an advocate for "gingers" even attending a redhead festival in Holland last year where naturally she ran laughter workshops.
"I'm a professional laugher you might say," said Johnson. "It could be worse."
The American Laughing Championship aims to promote the positive effects of laughter on mental and physical health. Research shows that laughter can reduce stress, improve mood, and foster social connection. Leah's success highlights these benefits, reminding everyone of the power of laughter to bring people together. As the newly crowned American Laughing Champion, Leah Johnson plans to use her platform to advocate for the importance of Americans laughing together, especially coming up on a stressful election season.
