Author Elma (Martens) Schemenauer is a first-generation child of German-speaking Mennonite immigrants from Russia to Saskatchewan. After teaching in Saskatchewan, Montana, and Nova Scotia, she settled into a publishing career in Toronto. She's the author of 78 published books including the novel Consider the Sunflowers.
