Thompson & Knight Opens San Antonio Office

The global law firm of Thompson & Knight LLP is pleased to announce the opening of an office in San Antonio, Texas, the seventh largest city in the United States. This office marks the fifth Thompson & Knight location in Texas, in addition to Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, and Houston.

Initially, the primary focus of the San Antonio office will be complex litigation, with a special emphasis on white collar criminal defense matters. However, with Thompson & Knight’s global resources, depth, and range of expertise, the Firm’s attorneys will be able to assist clients in any industry among the Firm’s large array of practice specialties. The Firm attorneys opening the office, Jason Davis, Marina Garcia Marmolejo, and Michael McCrum, have more than 45 years combined legal experience and are well equipped to meet any challenges. Consistent with the Firm’s impressive growth pattern and proven track record of excellence, the San Antonio office expects to recruit additional talented attorneys for future expansion.

The San Antonio team has been involved in virtually every aspect of civil and criminal litigation, including, but not limited to fraud, tax-related investigations, real estate, health care, environmental, energy, public corruption, securities, government contracts, and false claims. The Firm also represents clients in “whistle blower” suits involving public and private employers, fraud allegations in domestic and international commerce, and related insurance issues in these circumstances.

Riley notes that the San Antonio office is also well-positioned to work collaboratively with its approximately 50 attorneys in the Firm’s Mexico offices—Thompson & Knight Abogados in Mexico City and Thompson & Knight, S. de R.L. de C.V. in Monterrey.

Davis, a San Antonio native, is a Partner in the Firm’s Trial Practice Group. His active trial practice involves both complex civil and criminal litigation. He represents individuals and business entities in civil and criminal government investigations, white collar criminal defense, regulatory and administrative proceedings, and grand jury matters. He also represents individuals, financial institutions, and other business entities and executives in a wide variety of commercial and fraud-related disputes. Davis previously served as an Assistant United States Attorney in both the Western and Southern Districts of Texas. He has received numerous Department of Justice awards and superior performance ratings, including Prosecutor of the Year by the State of Texas in 2001-2002 and the Organized Crime Force Award for Most Significant Prosecution of the Year in 2002, among others. Davis will split his practice between the Firm’s Austin and San Antonio offices.

Marmolejo, a Laredo native, is Of Counsel in the Firm’s Trial Practice Group. She focuses her practice on trial and dispute resolution, primarily in the area of white collar criminal defense and the representation of individuals and entities who have been charged in federal and state court and those under investigation by federal grand juries or federal authorities. She previously served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Southern District of Texas. She is the recipient of numerous awards for her work as a prosecutor, including the most prestigious award bestowed by the Department of Justice, the Attorney General’s Director’s Award.

McCrum, also a San Antonio native, is Of Counsel in the Firm’s Trial Practice Group. He focuses his practice primarily in the area of complex white collar criminal defense matters and handles matters and cases in San Antonio, throughout Texas, and across the United States. McCrum previously served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Western District of Texas. He has been named one of The Best Lawyers in America from 2006-2008 and one of the Best Lawyers in San Antonio from 2005-2007. He was also named a “Texas Super Lawyer” by Texas Monthly and listed in Who’s Who Among Metropolitan Executives in 2007.
