Free data recovery service for flood areas: Relief campaign by 030 Datenrettung Berlin GmbH

030 Datenrettung Berlin was already in action with a technical aid campaign during the flood of the century 2021 in the Ahr valley and was thus able to provide emergency aid for several affected families and companies in the recovery of their digital data and memories. Thanks to the rapid flood relief, hard disks, SSD drives and various RAID systems were successfully recovered.

In view of the dramatic situation in southern Germany at the beginning of June 2024, the data recovery service is now building on this success as part of a major solidarity campaign:

People currently affected by the floods can send their storage media damaged in the storm to the company free of charge. 030 Datenrettung Berlin GmbH will analyze the data carrier free of charge and then salvage what can be salvaged by arrangement.

The following applies:

* For affected private households, the company completely waives the service fee for data recovery (100% discount) for a single storage medium up to max. 4TB per household as part of the #HOCHWASSERSOMMER24 solidarity campaign. Only any spare parts required will be charged after acceptance of the offer (customers will be informed of the costs in advance).
* For more extensive storage systems such as NAS/RAID network systems or larger individual data carriers, 030 Datenrettung Berlin GmbH grants a 50% discount on the data recovery service as part of the campaign, as well as 50% for any storage media from affected companies in the flood areas.

The promotion applies to all data carriers submitted to the data recovery specialist by June 30, 2024, that are directly affected by the flood areas. With this special campaign, 030 Datenrettung Berlin GmbH would like to make a contribution to solidarity in Germany.

Some tips on the correct procedure in the event of damage

Quick action is a prerequisite for successful data recovery of wet or muddy data carriers: The damaged data carriers must be examined as quickly as possible in a data recovery laboratory with a clean room designed for this purpose, where they can be professionally checked and cleaned. The affected storage medium should be packed airtight when wet, e.g. wrapped tightly in cling film. (Then pad it securely for transportation, e.g. in cardboard packaging with bubble wrap).

Under no circumstances should attempts be made to dry the data carrier; sending it to the laboratory as quickly as possible can considerably improve the chances of data recovery.

Affected storage media must not be put back into operation under any circumstances, as the impurities in the interior of hard disks can otherwise lead to destruction of the magnetic surface or cause serious damage to the electronics, e.g. of SSD drives, when power is supplied.

In its state-of-the-art data recovery laboratory, 030 Datenrettung Berlin GmbH can prepare data storage media under professional conditions even after severe damage caused by storms, so that in many cases it is still possible to recover data from the hard disk.
