Garbage man turned model overnight

Berlin, Dec 30 – João Sabino, 26, of Newark, New Jersey used to pick up bags of trash but today he is picking up bags of cash just across the state border in New York City.
Sabino got the break of a life time during his late morning garbage route one fall Thursday when Vanessa Da Rosa, resident of the primarily Portuguese sector of Newark, noticed the garbage man’s chizzled cheekbones, muscular frame, glowing bronzed skin and midnight blue eyes while taking her trash to the curb.
“I wanted a date with him and was looking for any old excuse to talk to him so I recommended that he sign up at IMJ-Online and build his modeling portfolio,” said Da Rosa, who is also a member of the talent Web Site.
Sabino went home later that night signed up and paid the small fee to build a profile, portfolio and allow his person to be contacted by bookers.
The next afternoon, he was offered an immediate gig by a small ad agency in New York City.
“The money for the gig was not mind-blowing but I thought this would be a perfect chance for me to start at square one, gain experience and get my face out there,” said Sabino.
And indeed he did. Sabino has been receiving weekly booking requests regarding odd talent jobs in the city including, a charity fashion runway show, car show spokesman, promoter, a photoshoot for a fitness center brochure and an opportunity as a celebrity event host.
“Most of my gigs have been low maintenance and in the city, but next month I will be flown out to Italy to do a fashion shoot for GQ,” he said.
Sabino quit his job as a garbage man and is currently on dating terms with his referrer, Da Rosa.
