Law and Order Ball announces surprise celebrity guest for 2016 event

The Rotary Club of Fort Myers South has a delightful surprise in store for the third annual Law and Order Ball, to be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17 at Germain Arena. Two new features at this year’s event will be a surprise celebrity guest as well as a Fund-A-Need initiative that allows attendees to more directly benefit local law enforcement efforts in saving lives.

The purpose of the Law & Order Ball is to thank the everyday heroes of the Lee County law enforcement agencies who keep us safe, enabling us to build our businesses and thrive as a community. Those agencies include: Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Fort Myers Police Department, Cape Coral Police Department, Sanibel Police Department, Florida Gulf Coast University Police Department, Florida SouthWestern State College Police Department and Lee County Port Authority Police.

The new addition of Fund-A-Need at this year’s event will provide funds for law enforcement to purchase Individual Patrol Officer Kits. These “IPOKs” contain supplies that allow law enforcement personnel to stabilize victims in a traumatic event, from a shooting to a car crash. The kits offer the best chance to help a victim in the most crucial time to give life-saving treatment, the first three minutes after a person is wounded. The fundraising event also coincides with FEMA’s nationwide “Stop the Bleed” initiative, which allows first responders to take simple steps to keep injured people alive as they await medical care.

All proceeds from the ball are directed to the Rotary Club of Fort Myers South Foundation, which then benefit law enforcement youth programs, the new Fund-A-Need initiative, as well as many other community projects.

As with last year’s Law and Order Ball, Creighton Construction and Development and Ada’s Market will be the presenting sponsors. Tickets are now on sale at www.lawandorderball.org for this popular gala event. Tickets for the Law and Order Ball are $150 each and $1200 for a table of eight, and include cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, a formal dinner, entertainment, raffle items, a silent auction and live auction. Guests will be able to mingle with law enforcement officers and get a close look at law enforcement vehicles. Another way to help support the event is the Fund-A-Cop program, an opportunity to help a member of Lee County law enforcement attend the ball by underwriting the cost of a ticket for him or her.
