From Subway Hero to Education Activist, FEIH Co-Founder Ramiro Ocasio Signals Accelerated Humanitarian Efforts with Opening of 22nd School in Honduras

FEIH has announced the ribbon cutting celebration of their most recent school, naming the new facility in honor and memory of legendary Hollywood publicist Ronnee Sass

Ramiro Ocasio rescued a man from what would have been his death on a NYC subway track in 2013, and from that moment spurred an ignition in Ocasio's mission to give back to those in need in Honduras.

From the media attention he received thanks to the work of two bystanders who would go on to be benefactors, Ocasio was the recipient of fundraising dollars that went towards the inception of the Foundation for Education in Honduras [https://feih.org/]. Now, FEIH is opening its 22nd rural school in Honduras. Escuela de Gracia will celebrate its opening on April 27, 2024, in Agua Blanca Sur, Yoro, Honduras, and has been named in honor of longtime Hollywood elite publicist Ronnee Sass, who spent most of her career working with Warner Brothers. Her mantra was one of "living a life of grace".

Founded in 2014 by Ramiro Ocasio and Jon Henes, FEIH is a mission rooted in humanity. Before this, Ocasio's heart for giving back led him to provide water, food, and other items as he could when he visited his hometown of El Progreso, Honduras. After the subway incident occurred, and the public began to donate money to him, Ocasio decided to take his mission further. For a decade, FEIH has been building schools with an emphasis on providing clean, well-ventilated classrooms, desks, chairs, uniforms, backpacks, playgrounds, fans, clean bathrooms, and much more. Most materials are sourced locally in Honduras to provide an economic boost in the area for artisans and small businesses.

The two bystanders who helped Ocasio's subway story make the news, Felicia Greenfield and her then-seven year old daughter Dani, have gone on to be benefactors of FEIH and recently raised $40,000 to build and dedicate a new school. Greenfield's aunt was Ronnee Sass, the longtime Hollywood publicist for whom Escuela de Gracia is being named. Sass was a figurehead in elite PR from 1995 up until her death following a battle with leukemia in 2021. She was known for her vivacious spirit and love for nature. Escuela de Gracia will also feature a garden in her honor, as Sass' favorite place was her backyard garden, tending to her bountiful flowers.

FEIH will also be honoring one of the victims of the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse in Baltimore. Maynor Yassir Suazo Sandoval was a Honduran who had a heart for helping others. His 39th birthday will fall on April 27, 2024, and so he will be honored at the grand opening of Escuela de Gracia with one of the school's classrooms being dedicated to him. The lives of Sass and Sandoval intersected at unique points that link together Escuela de Gracia and Charm City. Both individuals were loved and respected, and both were dedicated to giving back. Sass was a Baltimore native, and Sandoval lived there for almost two decades.
