Press release from: LearningOnline

According to a recent Internet World Stats report, Spanish is third in the top ten languages used on the Internet, with over 256.8 million users.

Cupertino, 27th June 2016 –

Even today, it's estimated that 55.5% of all web content is in English. However, only around 20% of the world's population speaks English to any degree, and just 5% of the world speaks English as a native language. According to a recent Internet World Stats report, Spanish is third in the top ten languages used on the Internet, with over 256.8 million users.

750 million people speak Spanish worldwide, and around half of those are native speakers. It's estimated that approximately 50% of the Spanish speaking population is online, so its ranking will only grow in the next 5-10 years as Spanish speakers become more connected and create more content.

"While the diversity of languages on the Internet has been growing in recent years, for most people, there is still very little content in their own language," commented Sue Brett, C.E.O at learningonline.xyz.

Spanish is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world. It is the official language in 22 countries and the second largest native language across the world.

According to a 2011 paper by U.S. Census Bureau Demographers Jennifer Ortman and Hyon B. Shin, the number of Spanish speakers in the U.S alone is projected to rise through 2020 to anywhere between 39 million and 43 million. Today, three-quarters of all Hispanics aged 5 and older speak Spanish - that share is projected to fall to about two-thirds in 2020.

"There is always a balance between integrating and preserving cultural heritage. The role of educators and learning providers is to ensure there is a choice and options available. Most people prefer learning in their own language. Developing quality, online courses for Spanish learners is very important to us, as part of our overall commitment to providing affordable, accessible learning with high cultural connectivity," Ms. Brett continued.
