"We won't let you down" NDIS therapy chief promises
Monday 15 April 2024In light of recent closures of local therapy services, Your Best Life Disability and Health Services, a cornerstone in the Sunshine Coast community, has pledged to bolster specialised allied health services to accommodate the influx of residents to the region.
Today, CEO of Your Best Life Debbie Blumel said, "Our commitment to serving the needs of our community has never been stronger. We are steadfast in our resolve to expand our top-quality services and eagerly anticipate meeting increasing regional demand."
Since the NDIS started, Your Best Life has demonstrated remarkable growth, establishing five additional centres alongside its flagship facility in Nambour. Last financial year, the organisation served greater than 2700 clients across its operations spanning the Sunshine Coast, Gympie, and Moreton Bay regions. Ms Blumel emphasised, "This is a testament to the trust that the community places in our not-for-profit organisation and the pivotal role we play."
In response to the recent recommendations from the NDIS Review and the Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability, which propose significant changes to registration and funding, Ms Blumel affirmed, "Your Best Life is well-positioned to navigate these changes, with our streamlined operations and robust quality assurance measures."
Your Best Life, a registered NDIS provider with a legacy of 36 years in the Sunshine Coast region, offers a comprehensive suite of disability and health services, including psychology, behaviour support, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, and speech therapy.
The organisation also extends its reach to community mental health services and supported independent living, in addition to operating NDIS plan management supports under the Your Choice Plan Management banner.
Integral to the company's success are its more than 120 local employees, comprising professionals, administrative staff, and support workers. Ms Blumel encouraged passionate locals seeking employment with a positive and friendly environment to reach out for an interview.
"As long as there is a need within our community, Your Best Life will remain steadfast in our commitment to supporting local communities. We are here for you, and we won't let you down," reassured Ms Blumel.

Our Company History
Your Best Life Disability and Health Services started as an incorporated association known as Sunshine Coast Children's Therapy Centre more than 35 years ago. The first centre was built in Nambour and has been extended and renovated. Over those decades, it was funded by government grants to provide therapy to children with disabilities.
In 2015, the Board initiated an all encompassing transformation to become NDIS-ready as the NDIS was scheduled to roll-out on the Sunshine Coast for 2019. The incorporated association transformed into a company in 2017 and developed a new strategic direction and business capabilities to meet changing needs. The company was renamed as Your Best Life Disability and Health Services Ltd in 2020. During these transformative years, Your Best Life Disability and Health Services opened many new centres across the Sunshine Coast, Gympie, and Moreton Bay LGAs.
The company was registered to provide services to children under Helping Children with Autism (HCWA) and Better Start before those programs were replaced by the NDIS and ultimately terminated in 2021. For several decades, the company was also the regional provider of choice for community based disability services by the Department of Disability and Community Services and by the Department of Education under the Specialised Disability Supports in Schools (SDSS) programme.
The company now provides services under a range of funding streams including NDIS, Medicare, National Injury Insurance Scheme (NIIS), Veteran's Affairs, North Coast Aboriginal Corporation for Community Health (NCACCH), Child Safety, private health funds, PHN Stepped Care (Mental Health Program), and a range of brokered services.
