DPO Partners with Schneider Electric to Launch Wind-Powered Data Centers
This collaboration aims to revolutionize the landscape of renewable-powered computing infrastructure and support DPO's recently announced 100 MW Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) and associated data center expansion.
In a departure from conventional data center models reliant on virtual power purchase agreements or offsets for clean energy procurement, these high-performance computing (HPC) facilities, dedicated to AI applications, will predominantly draw their power directly from adjacent wind farms.
DPO will collaborate with Schneider Electric to engineer power-dense data centers situated alongside renewable energy plants, leveraging an innovative framework to enable advanced GPU-based computing. This approach not only enhances operational efficiency but also drives substantial cost savings and sustainability improvements by maximizing the utilization of existing power generation assets.
"Collaborating with seasoned professionals in this field is essential to addressing critical sustainability goals," Andrew Webber, CEO of DPO, said.
Schneider Electric brings experience in the engineering and construction of modular data center facilities to the table, leveraging its EcoStruxure solution.
Beyond the initial 100 MW deployment planned at wind facilities across Texas, DPO and Schneider Electric envision further expansion, with plans to deploy additional modular HPC data centers at various solar, wind, and hydroelectric sites owned by DPO clients.
