RITTWEGER + TEAM only Thuringian representative at the Festival of the New European Bauhaus in Brussels

The agency RITTWEGER + TEAM is the only Thuringian representative at this year's major Festival of the New European Bauhaus, which will take place in Brussels from April 9 to 13, 2024. The "New European Bauhaus" initiative, launched by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, calls on designers, architects and product developers to shape the Europe of the future. For several years now, RITTWEGER + TEAM has been working on various projects to create a vision of a sustainable Europe that benefits everyone.

In a multi-stage European application process, the agency has now been able to assert itself with its proposed contribution to the festival. It was able to impress with two projects: the in-house Circular Material LAB and the model project for the European bioeconomy - the Weimarer Land Bank.

Circular Material LAB for innovations in the circular economy

For the Circular Material LAB, RITTWEGER + TEAM has now researched over 400 materials that are suitable for the circular economy. A large number of these materials are on display in the agency's offices in Erfurt in the form of samples and examples that can be touched, combined and understood. For client projects and in the agency's workshops, this collection is a valuable tool and an outstanding source of inspiration for bringing together interdisciplinary material innovations and accelerating defossilization at the material level.

From historic Bauhaus to New European Bauhaus - the Weimarer Land Bank

As a model project for the European bioeconomy, the "Weimarer Land Bank", developed jointly with Weimarer Land Tourismus e.V. and B.A.U.M e.V., is the second project with which RITTWEGER + TEAM was able to score points. 100 years ago, the Weimarer Land was a source of inspiration and a place of work for the Bauhaus masters and pioneers of the time. Taking up this legacy, the regional model project, which has already been implemented, integrates all the principles of the New European Bauhaus. The "Weimarer Land Bench" combines brand-defining outdoor furniture for a tourist region with a fully recyclable material design. Each hiking bench thus becomes a practical, durable and beautiful CO2 reservoir instead of being a burden on the environment itself.

Workshop on circular business transformation

RITTWEGER + TEAM will be presenting both projects at its stand in Brussels. In addition, the agency is organizing a workshop at the festival on promoting sustainable business practices within the circular economy as part of the European Green Deal.

Entitled "Circular Business Transformation under the EU Green Deal", the workshop will offer participants the opportunity to gain in-depth insights into innovative approaches to reducing CO2 emissions and promoting a sustainability-driven business culture. Through interactive discussions, case studies and practical exercises, participants will be encouraged to develop concrete steps to implement sustainable business strategies that deliver both environmental and economic benefits.
