Meet Micah Hoxsie: The Creative Mind Behind Punny Puns

Micah Hoxsie is the children's book author of Punny Puns, a company that creates funny and educational products such as reading books, card games and coloring books.

It all began with a desire to create something new and helpful. The company started in late 2020, when there was on-going sadness, fear, and turmoil in the world. Hoxsie wanted to create educational resources to help families bounce back from the stress and anxiety of living through the Covid-19 pandemic.

"If I become a children's book author, it just has to be funny!" Hoxsie was trying to mix words around to make something funny. He finally struck gold when he asked himself, "Why in the world do we call a cowboy a cowboy, when he rides a horse and not a cow?"

Hoxsie decided to put a boy on a cow and in so doing created CowBoy, one of his main characters for the brand. He later added a girl on a cow for CowGirl and the family of characters expanded from there.

Hoxsie uses puns to educate children and families, teaching things like compound words, wordplay, and cognitive thinking. Each reading book teaches a life lesson, such as spending more time outside, limiting screen time, not comparing to others, and overcoming the fear of what other people think.

Hoxsie is working on a ten book series called Reading is PUN . The intention of the book collection is to make reading fun.
