Yankee Candle Partners Nanyang Polytechnic’s (NYP) School of Interactive and Digital Media (SIDM) To Produce Animated Branding Videos For Their Riviera Escape Fragrance Collection

Singapore, June 2016 – Yankee Candle has been selected by Nanyang Polytechnic’s (NYP) School of Interactive and Digital Media (SIDM) as its industry partner for its second-year ‘Diploma in Motion Graphics and Broadcast Design’ students taking the Integrated Project Module as part of their course curriculum. This Integrated Project Module is where students will also be graded on Motion Design, 3D for Motion Graphics, Illustration, Branding Concept and Modern & Pop Culture.

The second-year SIDM students taking this Integrated Project Module were organized into teams of 3 and given creative license to create an animated branding video for Yankee Candle’s ‘Riviera Escape’ range of new summer fragrances, which will be launched on 1 July 2016.

To conclude the six-week long collaborative project, Yankee Candle is launching an online voting contest to determine the best animated video. The team with the highest number of public votes on YouTube will win a 4-Day-3-Night idyllic escapade to Gold Coast, Australia, one of Asia’s beautiful rivieras.

The Project

Yankee Candle gave a creative brief to the SIDM students to produce an animated branding video for the launch of the brand’s Summer 2016 new fragrances – Olive & Thyme, Summer Peach, Sea Salt & Sage and Riviera Escape. The theme of this collection of scented candles and home fragrances is ‘Riviera Escape’.

Through conceptualizing and creating the animation videos, the SIDM students had the opportunity to employ a myriad of techniques, ranging from 3D to stop-motion animation. There were also weekly consultations with Yankee Candle’s representatives, giving the SIDM students the opportunity to interact with industry practitioners.

The Voting Contest

The top 8 videos were pre-selected by Mr. Charles Lee (Lecturer, SIDM), Ms. Nina Chan (Visual Designer, Yankee Candle) and Mr. Logan Wong (Managing Director, Yankee Candle).

These videos will be uploaded on Yankee Candle’s YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/c/YankeeCandleSIN) on June 13, 2016, 12p.m. SGT, when voting commences. Voting ends on June 28, 2016, 12a.m. SGT.

The team whose video garners the most number of Likes will be the winning team.

Each SIDM student on the winning team enjoys a 4-Day-3-Night trip to Gold Coast, Australia, sponsored by Yankee Candle.

Yankee Candle will use the winning video as the main promotional tool for the launch of the new Summer 2016 Riviera Escape range of fragrances.
