It's time for smart commissioning and shipment monitoring

Garching near Munich, March 12, 2024 - The Munich-based logistics software provider BOX ID will be presenting various new products at the LogiMAT trade fair in Stuttgart in March 2024. In addition to the expansion of the proven cloud-based software for returnable packaging management with new features, the 'Smart Label', a completely new product for valuable one-time shipments, is now integrated into the software platform for real-time tracking. Furthermore, visitors can experience the upcoming product ProcessGuard for error-free commissioning, which has been nominated for the IFOY Award 2024, for the first time in a live demo in the 'AIM Track and Trace Theater' on the exhibition grounds.

As one of the most important trade fairs in the field of intralogistics, LogiMAT offers an annual platform for trade visitors and decision-makers from various industries who want to find out about innovations, trends in the logistics industry and ways to increase efficiency in internal processes as well as along global supply chains. As an exhibitor, the supply chain platform provider BOX ID, uses the industry event to present its latest developments.

New tracking devices for container fleets

With its FleetControl module, the BOX ID SaaS platform brings transparency to the management of higher-value returnable transport packaging (RTP), such as collapsible boxes, roll cages, racks, IBCs/KEGs, swap bodies and other transport containers. The utilization by major customers in sectors such as the automotive industry, the glass industry, the wholesale trade and logistics service providers show an average reduction in container shrinkage of 95 percent, with 20 percent shorter turnaround times. The enormous cost-saving potential is evident.

BOX ID has now significantly expanded its product range of tracking devices and sensors for this area of application. On the one hand, numerous new wireless network-based tracking devices (NB-IOT, LTE-M, LTE.Cat1) have been added. On the other hand, mobile BLE gateways with a wireless network connection are now also available, allowing containers or cargo objects to be connected extremely cost-effectively with simple BLE tags.

"With the expansion of the portfolio, our offering for customers with fleets of containers or other mobile assets is now significantly broader and more powerful: on the one hand, with BLE solutions we are lowering the entry threshold in terms of sensor costs per object. On the other hand, customers who require very complete continental or even global coverage can now also find extremely durable devices with suitable redundant wireless connections," explains Matthias Piekarczyk, Chief Sales Officer at BOX ID.

Real-time shipment monitoring with the Smart Label

Another new feature is shipment monitoring with the Smart Label. From now on, even expensive or critical one-off shipments can be monitored and controlled in real time. The functionality is the result of a collaboration with the innovative Sony spin-off SENSOS, which has developed an intelligent, digitally networked shipping label in the size of a credit card. The smart shipping label, which is only a few millimeters thick, can be easily and securely affixed to a wide variety of consignments. Thanks to its integration into the BOX ID Cloud software, precise localization, exact condition monitoring - for example with regard to temperature or impact and the integrity of the packaging - can be carried out to the second.

Zero-defect commissioning made easy

The third new product extension has just been nominated for the prestigious IFOY Award, which will be presented in June 2024. With the ProcessGuard, which was developed in collaboration with Fega & Schmitt, a Würth Group company, BOX ID is currently testing a new platform module that both controls the container flow and makes picking errors in warehouses and distribution centers virtually impossible. An innovative monitoring engine gives real-time feedback to workers on the shopfloor and ensures that shipments are put together and routed correctly. ProcessGuard also optimizes the transport cycles of the respective containers. In this way, the system not only helps to avoid incorrectly picked or misdirected shipments, but also minimizes the user's ecological footprint. The solution can be flexibly connected to ERP and other warehouse management systems.

During LogiMAT, visitors can gain their own impression of ProcessGuard's range of functions during live demonstrations in the 'AIM Track and Trace Theatre' - organized by the Industry Association for Automatic Identification (AIM-D e.V.).
