"When I heard about the Wells Fargo Championship, I felt like it was an excellent opportunity for us to do just that. As a golf lover myself, I definitely appreciated having the opportunity to play in a well-planned tournament while also supporting important charitable work."
Each year the Wells Fargo Championship chooses a worthy charity to donate its proceeds to, with a total of $14.8 million in donations over the history of the tournament. This year's main charitable recipient was Teach for America, an organization that works to close the achievement gap between children in privileged areas and low-income communities through improving the quality of the teachers serving underserved children.
"When I saw that the proceeds to this year's tournament were going towards such a worthy educational organization," said Tucker, "I knew the Parks family would want to participate. Without strong education for the next generation, regardless of economic state, our entire community will fail."
The Pro-Am portion of the tournament, which Tucker participated in, paired one PGA professional with four amateurs to create 28 teams. Prizes were awarded for the first, second and third place teams.
"This was definitely a fun experience, but more importantly one we felt great about supporting," said Tucker. "I hope to be able to do something similar in the future."
