F.E. Moran Provides HVAC for the New McCormick Square

Chicago, IL – Chicago’s McCormick Place Convention Center was once merely an exposition center. Now, it is a neighborhood – McCormick Square. McCormick Square will consist of McPier, a second hotel, and an arena for the DePaul Blue Demons basketball team. The intention is to attract more conventions and sports fans as well as transform this area of Chicago into an entertainment district.

In a press release, McPier CEO Lori Healey said, “The addition of the event center and the Marriott Marquis Chicago, coupled with the Hyatt Regency, McCormick Place, and Square is becoming a destination rather than just a building.”

Alderman Pat Dowell said, “As McCormick Square continues to grow and expand, it will be a boon for our neighborhood, Chicago, and Illinois overall. This new rebranding will further energize the ongoing revitalization of this new neighborhood that connects with Motor Row, the South Loop corridor, Prairie District, and the expanding Bronzeville neighborhood.”

F.E. Moran has been an integral part of the build of this new neighborhood by providing HVAC for several buildings at McPier. They designed and installed a ¼ mile run of steam, condensate, and chilled water as well as fan coil builts for the McCormick Marriott Marquis. In addition, they built the HVAC system in the McCormick Central Plant that feeds into the hotel and DePaul Event Center that seats 10,000 people. F.E. Moran also installed the heat pump units with boiler and tower for the twenty-story Hilton.
