Wind Power Receiving More Exposure after GWEC in April
TRV Systems Chief Development Officer Mr Nickika Hasimoto has been looking at the recent developments in the Wind sector and offers up these comments after his attendance at the Global Wind Energy Council last month.
“Global wind energy capacity will nearly double in the next five years, largely led by further market growth in China, but also as a stronger industry emerges in the United States” “Cumulatively wind energy capacity was 433 gigawatts (GW) at the end of 2015, a 17 per cent rise from the year before.”
“That should nearly double to around 792 GW by the end of 2020 as countries develop more renewable energy to comply with emissions cut targets, prices continue to fall and policies to support wind power in the United States stabilize.”
“Wind energy installed in 2015 reached 63 GW, a 22 per cent increase from the previous year. China alone installed nearly half of that new capacity — 30.8 GW.”
In December last year in Paris, almost 200 countries agreed a landmark deal to cut greenhouse gas emissions from 2020 with the aim of limiting global average temperature rise to below 2 degrees Celsius.
“The Paris Agreement requires a fully decarbonized power system by 2050 if not before, if we are keeping temperatures below 2 C above pre-industrial levels,” Steve Sawyer, GWEC Secretary General, said in a statement.
Mr Nickika Hasimoto of TRV Systems added “We are dedicated in our approach to renewable energy. Wind power is one of the most interesting renewables at the moment and should policies continue to change for the better, it’s a sector that should see much growth.”
New markets in Africa, Asia and Latin America are also emerging which will be sources of growth in the next decade.
Outside of China, the Asian market will be led by India but new markets in Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Pakistan and Mongolia are also developing quickly.
TRV Systems was established in 2007 as a solar energy solution, research, design and developmental technology company. They were founded in order to create an environment where innovative concepts could be nurtured and show growth. With the aim of bringing already developed inventions – and in some cases already those already in production – to the worldwide markets, they have expanded into a platform for entrepreneurs to bring forward their technologies or services to what is already, and continues to be a fast growing market. TRV Systems sources concepts and designs, and indeed conceptual designs, for innovative solar-reliant products. They work with engineers, analysts and development teams to grow, and thereby further incorporate into the present environment, the various forms of solar technology available to them.
