2SIMPLE TRUST LAUNCHES NEW CAMPAIGN FOR YOUNG CANCER SUFFERER
London, 10 December 2007. The 2Simple Trust, a charity that supports young children who suffer from the rare cancer neuroblastoma, has launched a new campaign to support Jacob Marsland.Jacob, who is five years old and from Kingsmead in Northwich, is currently undergoing the last possible treatment he can in the UK, which is called MIBG and involves injecting a highly radioactive chemical into the bones.
If the treatment is unsuccessful, Jacob will travel to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre in Manhattan, America for a pioneering treatment known as 3F8 antibody therapy. The treatment costs £350,000.
The 2Simple Trust supports a number of young children who suffer from neuroblastoma. Among them is Jack Brown for whom a song has been released this Christmas. The funds raised from sales of the song are not only being used to fund Jack’s treatment but also to help other families, including Jacob’s.
The song titled ‘Thanks for loving Me’ was written and recorded by Phil Ryan, who performed with The Animals during their famous Moscow concert in 1992. It can be downloaded by visiting www.2simpletrust.org and following the links to the Jack Brown Appeal. The single is also available on CD.
The 2Simple Trust can also be contacted on + 44 (0)208 203 0104 or by emailing alan@2simpletrust.org
Some Facts on Neuroblastoma
Approximately 100 children are diagnosed with this disease each year in the UK.
Neuroblastoma is a tumour that arises either in the sympathetic nervous system or closely associated adrenal glands.
The symptoms are varied and vague so it is often very difficult to detect and treat.
Despite intensive treatment with chemptherapy the likelihood of relapse is extremely high, making this one of the most lethal of childhood cancers.
