Mary is a widely known and broadly published author on cyber-security issues and is a popular speaker and presenter at cyber-security conferences, including e-Crime Congress, RSA, and the Gartner Security Summit. As a security analyst, Mary is well-known as the discoverer of Gumblar, the most prevalent Web threat of both 2009 and 2010 and the DarkLeech compromises of Web hosting servers in 2013.

Mary is a three-time Microsoft MVP award recipient for her role in furthering consumer security.
