One operation: printing labels with two colors

- XC Q printers provide two print heads - one for black, another for the spot color

FDA and EWG, CLP and RID, ADR and GbV all sound like random initials, as the famous German hip-hop band Die Fantastischen Vier successfully practiced in one of their hits in 1999. Actually, the initials represent valid directives by committees, particularly for the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. Manufacture facilities process liquid and powder mixtures, acids and alkalis, polymers and special synthetics. These are acquired by consumers in small containers, bags or drums. Many substances are potentially hazardous. Putting them into circulation demands clear labeling. The Globally Harmonized System, GHS, therefore defines black pictograms, surrounded by a red rhomb.

The XC Q4 and XC Q6.3 label printers enable thermal transfer printing with two colors in one operation. In addition to printing with black, the printers provide another print head for the spot color. Companies do not need to stock pre-printed labels for labeling hazardous goods. If labels are only to be printed in parts, one print head can be lifted by menu control during label feed and the thermal transfer ribbon be stopped. This automatic feature significantly reduces consumption of material.
